Community Jameel

I had the privilege of collaborating with Community Jameel and the Rupantaran Foundation to document the Ankur programme, which supports over 40,000 people in the Sundarbans, West Bengal, in rebuilding livelihoods after cyclones and preparing for the ongoing impacts of climate change.

Launched in 2021, the programme provides livelihood support to thousands of families through sustainable agriculture, poultry farming, and mangrove conservation, while forming women’s collectives to empower communities and preserve traditional knowledge.

Along with my team, I captured the initiative through photography and film, focusing on the resilience, determination, and hope of the communities. Each frame sought to highlight not only the challenges faced but also the transformative impact of sustainable practices and collective action in one of the world’s most vulnerable and ecologically significant regions.
